Post-Election Survey
The Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act requires the Federal Voting Assistance Program (FVAP) to submit a report to Congress following each Presidential election on the effectiveness of our efforts. The report utilizes data collected in the Post-Election Survey, which gauges the absentee voting experience for local election officials and military and overseas citizens, and assists us in improving this experience and our program. This survey is not the same as the Election Day survey conducted by the Election Assistance Commission.
In 2008, FVAP, in coordination with the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC), administered the 2008 Post-Election Survey in support of the UOCAVA requirement. FVAP conducts a Post-Election Survey: (1) to determine participation in the electoral process by UOCAVA citizens; (2) to assess the impact of FVAP’s efforts to simplify and ease the process of voting absentee; (3) to evaluate other progress made to facilitate absentee voting participation; and (4) to identify any remaining obstacles to voting by these citizens.
If you were chosen to participate, and completed the survey, the Federal Voting Assistance Program appreciates your effort and help. The results and 18th Report to the President and Congress will be available in December 2009.
Post-Election Voting Surveys have been conducted in the past. However, for some of the populations, concerns regarding sampling methodology and low survey response rates have limited FVAP's ability to generalize the experiences of survey respondents to assess the views and voting experiences among all categories of UOCAVA citizens. These reports can be seen below.
